Our Weekend

My little coutry boy! Wore wranglers and carhart all weekend :)

Sorry I wasn't able to post pics on Friday. Jason took the camera to take some pictures of a fencing job and when he got back home I was busy packing and getting ready for our weekend.
We spent the weekend at UT Martin at a horse show. It was our first weekend away since Hudson has been home. Other than rolling off the hotel bed once, he did really well! He moves so much in his sleep and we thought we had a big enough barrier around him but we were wrong! Don't worry he was back to sleep in a matter of minutes!
Jason was Mr. Mom this weekend since I was showing. He did almost all of potty duty, all the feeding, played with him all day. He was great, well, they both were!

Update

Sorry I don't have any pictures to post today. I will get some posted tomorrow or Friday. I can't believe a week has gone by since I last posted!

We just got home from Granny's. I sent us with enough food for a week! Hudson has plenty of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and vegetable soup for the next few days. His eating has been great over the past few weeks. We are trying new things and he does well with them. He likes apples, peaches, and strawberries. I even gave him a piece of meat the other day and he chewed it up and swallowed it. It takes him a LLLLLOOOOONNNNGGGG time to chew the food, but I'm not complaining because he is doing so good. I am still pureeing some stuff, if I didn't it would take him a couple of hours to eat (Ha!). But I made a some potato soup (O'Charley's-good stuff!) the other day and instead of pureeing it I cut the potatoes very small and he has done really well with chewing them and not trying to swallow them whole-woohoo!

Okay, enough about food. He is really trying new words and noises and has even begun to sing his first song. It isn't much, but it's something. He says "row, row, row..." and then looks at me to finish the song. My new favorite animal noise is the turkey, it is so funny watching him "gobble". I don't think I could make a list of his new words, I'm afraid I would leave something off. But since it was raining this morning Jason stayed in and fed him while I went and fed horses. When I came home he was saying "Jesus", it's his own version, but that's what he was saying, it is sweet.

Yesterday we had a major breakdown. There was a cricket in the floor. He wasn't sure about it so being the goofy mom that I am I kicked it across the kitchen floor. With my last kick, it landed on his toes and started to move around. Hudson was shaking and screaming he was so scared. "Great job, Linds., now you have to do something about this so he's not deathly afraid of crickets his whole life", I thought! So I proceeded to pick the cricket up and rub it like a dog and talk really sweet to it. No, it's not my proudest moment, all I kept thinking was, "Cricket, please don't move because if I jump and scream then he'll really be scared." After a few minutes of this he finally rubbed the cricket and talked to it like he does the dogs-so funny! Oh, to be a fly on the wall in the Carney house would be pure entertainment!

Wednesday

I can't get enough of this laugh! And isn't Andy the sweetest!

Having a very serious conversation!
Jason and I overslept this morning, our a.m. and p.m. was messed up on the clock. Thankfully Hudson doesn't get up until around 8:00. He doesn't make much noise at all when he wakes up so I have to constantly look in there in the morning. I got in there around 8:15 and he must have just woke up. Most mornings I like to get up and wash my face, do a little reading, just take my time waking up because we all know the last thing I am is a morning person! But not my little man (nor my big man). He wakes up happy and talking. This morning I was still trying to wake up after he had breakfast, went potty, and had gotten dressed. It hit me when we were fixing to walk out the door to go feed that God probably chuckles at us in the mornings when he looks down and sees me not being able to help smiling back at my child who is babbling non stop! Oh, I'm sure when he was making Hudson and thinking of us He thought, "Let's make him a morning person! That's just what Lindsey needs!"
I have two funny stories to share...
We all know how Hudson LOVES to lay all over Andy. He rolls and crawls all over him. Well, the other day we were at the barn and one of my barn cats, Maggie, who is going to deliver kittens anyday, has been following Hudson everywhere. She will take any attention she can get. I have to keep an eye on him because he thinks every animal should be like Andy. I stepped out of the tack room and in just a few seconds heard the most horrible noise. A cat screaming at the top of her lungs, hissing, and carrying on. I hustled back to the tack room to find my sweet child plopped right down on top of Mrs. Maggie! She could not move and he was so comfortable. He just looked at me like, "What, Mom?" It was so funny and if the babies come out missing a few screws, we all know why!

I love getting in the floor and playing with Hudson, he is so much fun. He loves to blow raspberries on our bellies, and a few days ago he raised my shirt up and he had a sharp point on his fingernail. He grabbed my bellybutton and when he did it scratched me and hurt. So I let out this really girly, high pitched (totally not something that normally comes out of my mouth) "Ooooowwww". It startled him and he jumped up, then proceeded to grab his own bellybutton and yell, "ooooowwwww"! He had the same pitch and everything. I haven't laughed that hard in forever. So now, if you point to his bellybutton he says "ooww"!

Monkey Joe's

We don't get many family pics because it's usually one of us behind the camera. I don't know who had the most fun, me, Jason, or Hudson!?
Oh, yeah, this is my kind of place!

Ready, set...

GO GO GO

Whoohoo, that was awesome :)

That face does not look like he was having fun, but if you could hear him cracking up when he gets to the bottom, you would know different!!

This was as good of a pic. as we could get considering every slide he came down he was squirming, ready to go again!

Of course, my non-adventurous sister took him down the littlest slide in the place! HA!
Monkey Joe's was a blast but I think we'll be sending him the bill for the chiropractor! Joking, of course, but Jason's back has been messed up since so he is headed to Dr. Carmak this week. Hudson definitely loved it. When he and Jason would disappear into a tunnel, we could pick out his screams above all of the others, he is so funny! He's so light he flies down the slides. We will definitely be making many trips to this place.
The weather is going to be nice this week and we spent all day yesterday outside and all of this morning. He has cracked me up here lately with what entertains him. Last night and this morning he carried the broom around like it was so much fun. If only I could figure out what makes the broom so great, then I may enjoy sweeping more :) He is also totally entertained to watch me wash dishes while he stands on his steps looking into the sink. While I hung out clothes this morning he cracked himself up while he went back and forth underneath the clothes and then try his best to reach the socks. He was wore out by 11:00 (he didn't get up until 8:00). We walked down the driveway (which is a long walk), well, he ran down the driveway holding my hand and kicking a ball. He's pretty coordinated, I love watching him run and kick the ball at the same time. We may have a soccer player on our hands. By the time we got back from the mailbox I was carrying him up the hill and I was kicking the ball! He was exhausted!

Saturday

Foxxy was thinking, "Linds., the only reason I am tolerating this is because you are so close!" She is definitely not like Andy! She will cut out in a heartbeat if me or Jason aren't near. We've had her over 3 years now and it took her over 2 years to really let others touch her except me. The only way she would get near anyone is if another dog was right beside her.

He was attemping to put his hat on and almost tripped over a couple of toys in the process!

Here are a few pics I snapped over the past few days. Last night we went to Monky Joe's and got some cute pics I will post on Monday. He had so much fun! He laughed and laughed! I think me, Jason, and Casey had just about as much fun as he did, too! We are definitely going to be going back to Monkey Joe's soon!
He slept until 9:00 this morning because he fell asleep on the way home from Rivergate and when we got home he didn't want to go back to sleep! That's the second time that has happened. Next time I think I am going to crawl in the back and do whatever it takes to keep him awake!!

Lovin' this weather!

We have spent the past 5 days outside and it has been so much fun. We have been to the park a couple of times and then just hung out in the yard playing with some toys (sorry the pics above are not good). My house has actually been clean because we have only been inside to potty and take a nap :)
The past two days at the barn have been great because we moved him some fun toys down there that I bought at a consignment sale this past Saturday. He has really enjoyed playing with them. But with the temperature really dropping tonight he's going to be hanging out in the house for the next few days.
The time change has him sleeping until 8:30, which you would think I wouldn't complain about that because I hate getting up in the morning. But now I am back to feeding horses and by the time he eats, goes to the bathroom, and I get him ready, my horses think they are starving. So tonight I'm going to put him to bed a little early and hopefully he will be getting back into the 7:30 area.

Quilt

For every child who comes home through our agency, Bethany, they receive a quilt. The quilts are made by a lady who does it simply to be nice! This quilt goes great with his room and of course he loves cows. I needed to get some pics of him with it to send with a thank you note to the lady. I thought it would be difficult to get some good pics of him with it but I put it in the floor and all I had to do was point and shoot, he really liked it.

My first week of working and being a mom is complete. The week was good, I didn't enjoy leaving him the first two days, it was cold and he stayed in the house. Then on Wed. and Thurs. he came down to the barn and was watched down there. I like it much better when he is close by. Yesterday he was cranky when at the barn and didn't want to walk much, just whinny, which is totally not like him. I am pretty sure I figured out what was wrong, I tried some new shoes and they are too big.
Today he was cruising around the barn like a champ in his old shoes. He played with his toys in the arena while I rode a horse and then he rode with me to cool the horse down, then we took the tractor for a spin, and went to the park where he loves to slide. Of course he was pooped and has been sleeping now for over 2 hours. I can't wait for him to wake up because I want to go pick buttercups which are my absolute FAVORITE and he will enjoy the 4-wheeler ride to go get them. And tomorrow is suposed to be beautiful so I'm looking forward to getting him outside and playing. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! :)

Tuesday

Well, I made it through my first day back to work and was finished an hour early because one of my students has pneumonia and another was really sore from a weekend of snow skiing. I couldn't feel my fingers by the time it was over, it was so cold. I'm ready for warmer weather! Plus the time changes on Sunday and we'll have that extra sunlight that I oh, so love! Hudson stayed inside yesterday and will probably stay inside today since it's still chilly but the rest of the week it's outside :) I have been looking at playsets for the past couple of weeks and comparing prices. I think we are going to order one online directly from step2 www.step2.com They have free shipping and handling and are at least $20 cheaper than everywhere else. I also think that maybe this summer a sand box would be fun, but it would probably be a big litter box so we'll hold off on that!

2 Months Home

2 months ago we were on our way home from Russia with our little man. In one breath I feel like that was yesterday, in the next I feel like he's been with us forever. Too many emotions! He's grown so much physically, but boy, has that little personality really came out. He is so loving, funny, laid back, charming, everything I ever dreamed of and more. I love him so much and I love seeing Jason love him so much! Lots of lovin' :)

It brings tears to my eyes to look back and see God's hand at work and how He was right there with us for every single second. I think a lot about the court date, when they came out and told us the judge and prosecutor wasn't happy with our age. There was butterflies in my stomach but peace in my heart. I sang, "It is well with my Soul" over and over. And at the end of that day it was oh so well with my soul. Mountains moved for my baby I saw them with my eyes!
